Feehan for fresh Mahamedeis

A fresh Mahamedeis will be targeted towards the Feehan Stakes, with trainer Nick Ryan keen to keep his spring options open with one of his stable stars.

The in-form six-year-old, who has won his past two starts, enjoyed a short break following his victory at The Valley and has since pleased Ryan with how he has returned.

The Caulfield trainer said he would head to the Feehan, a ballot-exempt race for the Cox Plate and one the horse finished second in last year, before plotting the rest of his spring campaign.

“He had about eight days in the paddock just to freshen up and he’s come back in terrific order. He has done superbly well in his week off,” Ryan said.

“We will look to run him fresh in the Feehan Stakes at Moonee Valley. But where we go after that in the spring, there’s a few options he could take.

“We will let him tell us. There’s three or four different paths he can take, we’ve mapped out a few paths and it will be about how he is going and we will decide on the way.”
