Big Memory wins Listed Torney Night Cup

Champion jockey Craig Williams described Big Memory as an exciting staying prospect after winning the Listed $150,000 Adapt Aus Torney Night Cup (2500m) at Moonee Valley on Friday, February 21.

A well backed $3 equal favourite, Big Memory raced away to a three length Cup win from Aggregator with the other equal favourite Travolta a neck away third.

Williams gave Big Memory a perfect run in transit settling third on the fence before bringing him to the outside around the home turn and the import raced away to win easily.

“He’s got a lot of quality,” Williams said. “He’s still learning and did take a while to settle early but was impressive at the finish.”

“It was a great win and really had a perfect run at Moonee Valley and is a promising stayer”

McEvoy said the win was another tick for the training model he was developing having bases in Angaston and also at Hawkesbury.
